“The key to success is to focus our conscious mind on things we desire, not things we fear.” ~ Brian Tracy

Attention, Not Time Management

We live in an age of always on, always available, where we check our smartphones hundreds of times a day.

Since the advent of the smartphone in 2007, our daily life has never been the same.

Increasingly, those who manage their attention, not so much their time, are the ones who perform the best.

So, how does one improve focus and concentration? In this article, we’ll answer those questions in ways that may surprise you.

This article is broken down into three sections:

  1. What Robs Us of Our Focus and Concentration?
  2. How to Improve Focus and Concentration?
  3. What are Your Options to Improve Focus and Concentration?

What Robs Us of Our Focus and Concentration?

There are three main robbers:

  1. Technology
  2. Habits
  3. Health

Devices are the main culprit of lost attention, focus, and productivity. Allowing others to reach us anytime is to surrender control of your day to others.

Additionally, the constant checking of the device and the blue light that emits from devices all work against your cognitive energy and stores for the day – just think of your brain as a battery that runs down like your phone.

Poor habits also work against focus and concentration. Going into your day with no plan or routine is a prescription for failure.

Constantly switching between tasks is another reason we lack focus and concentration. When you jump back and forth between tasks, it can take up to 20 minutes to focus again.

Finally, poor underlying physical health significantly contributes to poor productivity and focus.

When we feel bad, sleep bad, and enter our day with brain fog and fatigue, our ability maintain attention is compromised.

Additionally, operating in a peak flow state takes energy and focus for at least an hour. Poor health makes this impossible.

How to Improve Focus and Concentration?

There are a thousand ways to tweak your attention, but let’s follow the pattern of the last section.

1. Technology

Master yourself with respect to your devices. Leave them in a drawer and focus on the task at hand.

Each time you pick it up, you are task-switching and drawing down on your brain’s energy reserves.

2. Habits

Create a routine for each day that you follow.

Operate with a goal stack that takes your big goal out five years or more, and breaks it down into smaller pieces annually, quarterly, monthly, and the weekly.

From your weekly goals, write out essential tasks that achieve those weekly goals and place them in blocks of 60 - 90 minutes each day of the week. Following this process will increase your focus and you’ll complete your best work.

3. Health

Finally, it’s critical that you proactively address your health if you want to perform at an elite level.

Poor underlying health will block you from getting into flow.

This is where Tiger Medical comes in. We are world-class at resolving underlying health issues that prevent you from showing up as your best.

What are Your Options to Improve Focus and Concentration?

Tiger Medical Institute has trained professionals who understand attention difficulties and the underlying conditions that can contribute to loss of focus and the resulting performance problems that follow.

If you work with Tiger Medical staff, you will establish an extensive medical data baseline to establish the truth about your health.

Research is conclusive. It gives you an advanced understanding of your health and an edge as you pursue elite performance by eliminating health issues that negatively impact on your health and ability to focus.

From this mosaic of health data, Tiger clinicians connect the dots from all testing and imaging to create a personalized medical treatment plan for you.

Tiger clinicians understand the drivers of optimal cellular health and will go to work treating the imbalances limiting your cellular health.

While completing testing and receiving a customized treatment plan, you’ll work with a health coach in consultation with Tiger doctors to help you implement the treatment plan and eight health habits.

These habits will naturally lower stress and empower you to thrive through any circumstances. Tiger also has extensive content on strategies to lower stress load non-medically.

The root cause of your health imbalances will be identified in the testing, and a plan to address it successfully will be included in your personalized medical plan and health coaching.

When you make the changes our Tiger doctor and health coach recommends, you’ll find yourself energized by the knowledge you are on the right path to optimal health.

You’ll lower stress, feel better, and enjoy greater performance benefits!
